Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
By the end of FY2020, a detailed activities of the research work was finalized, collaborators who will conduct the field works were contacted and agreement (verbal and written) and preparation for research work plan have been finished. At the beginning of the FY, extensive literature review was done and experts were consulted for evaluating plausibility of the research rationale and aims and obtaining their feedback. The research aims were amended upon receiving the comments. In the context of COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to consider collaboration with individual researchers in the field to accomplish the research activities at the study area. Therefore, local collaborators were identified based upon their previous experiences of conducting relevant research activities. While gaining support from the local collborators, target study areas were selected, number and category of study participants were finalized, research activities were planned and scheduled. A written agreement with the collaborators to conduct a ‘pilot survey’ has been completed which is scheduled to be finished by the mid-May 2021. Because of the restricted work schedule caused by the pandemic, online workshops and seminars were attended but it was not possible to present in any of them. A manuscript for journal submission has been prepared in consultation with the experts in the research team

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
At the beginning of the FY 2020, it was planned to finish broadly 3 activities: i.) finalizing collaborators to conduct field activities; ii.) finalizing target study area and participants; iii.) finishing detailed planning and scheduling of research activities. All there three aims have been fulfilled in this FY 2020. We already have confirmed research collaborators and consulted with them. Target areas have been identified broadly and target participants have been finalized. Detailed research activities have been planned. A planning of a ‘pilot survey’ has been done that will be executed at the beginning of FY2021. Therefore, the progess is self-evaluated as “completed the planned research”

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The future plan for the current research work comprises implementation of field works (a pilot survey; questionnaire survey with farmers and small scaled agro-industry holders), data analysis, and manuscript preparation and submission. Secondary data on profile of target study areas will be collected. In addition, as and when required, qualitative data will be collected from farmers, using key informant interviews, to meet the specific objectives. Data will be analyzed and research results will be achieved. The obtained results will be summarized in manuscripts which will be submitted to peer reviewed journals. Although planned, accomplishment of these activities depends on quickness of the completion of the field activities. If the field works are delayed due to highly expected partial or full lockdown situation in Nepal, considering to raising COVID-19 cases, it would delay the work plan which may then need amendments.
