Outline of Final Research Achievements	Although many performing arts productions are presented every year in Japan, support for the "creative process" is weaker than in Europe and the U.S. In this regard, a new model for the "creative process" proposed by universities of the arts is the "laboratory function". This project conducted comprehensive research on the effectiveness of its international application in the Asian region. For example, in the second year, a large-scale international symposium was held with 12 panelists from 7 countries, where we were able to find a theoretical foundation for 21st century creative environments and methods, and three "international collaborative laboratories" were held with China, Taiwan, and India, where domestic and international researchers and artists conducted diverse collective researches, workshops, and theater experiments.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements	(1)　日本の舞台芸術では、創造と研究の現場が長い間乖離してきたが、欧米では両者の融合が進んでいる。「ラボラトリー機能」の概念を用いて、両者の融合をはかり、作品創造と結びついた新たな国際共同研究を実践したことが、わが国の「芸術研究」における本研究の学術的意義である。 (2)　芸術系大学の社会的役割は、教育だけにとどまらず、優れた作品創造の環境や方法の開発に積極的に寄与することだと考える。本研究は、日本社会における舞台芸術の創造環境上の課題を、芸術研究の概念と場を拡張することで解決しようと試みたものであり、その点に社会的意義がある。
