Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高圧下におけるX線非弾性散乱実験および粉末X線回折実験によって,hcp構造をもつ金属レニウムと白金の縦波速度,横波速度と密度の測定を室温において行った.レニウムにおいては,230 GPaまでの条件で,縦波,横波,密度を決定することができた.得られた結果を用いて室温における圧力の一次スケールの作成を試みている.今回の測定の結果,理想的なレニウム結晶から理論的に期待されるよりも非常に大きな横波モードが観察された.我々の圧力スケールの信頼性を保証するには,この強い横波モードの原因を解明することが不可欠であるとの判断に至った.現在,変形したレニウム結晶の理論的検討を行い,結晶の変形組織の非弾性散乱ピークに与える影響を明らかにする理論計算を実施中である.同時にこの結果について論文としてまとめつつある.fcc構造を持つPtについては,弱い横波のX線非弾性散乱ピークを確認することができたが,圧力標準物質として適切かについての検討を行いつつ,引き続き測定を継続している。また,レニウムによる測定の結果を補強するするためにhcp構造をもつ他のオスミウムについても縦波,横波の測定を計画している.
高温高圧粉末X線回折によって,FeNiSi合金の相平衡関係を明らかにし、150GPaを超える高温高圧領域でhcpおよびB2相が2相共存することを明らかにし,その結果を論文として出版し,FeNiSi合金のB2相の音速測定を行っている.さらに地球核を構成するhcp-Feの音速測定を地球の内核に相当する300 GPaを超える圧力条件において測定しその結果を学会で発表するとともに,論文として投稿中である.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

高圧下におけるX線非弾性散乱実験および粉末X線回折実験によって以下の研究を行っている.
金属レニウムの縦波速度,横波速度,そして密度を,室温において核マントル境界を超える200GPa以上の圧力条件まで決定した.得られたデータを用いて,この圧力領域における室温の絶対圧力スケールを決定するためのデータ解析を行った.
さらに,金属レニウムの非弾性散乱の横波モードの強度が,理論的に予測される強度よりも大きいことが判明し.その原因を明らかにするために,加圧試料を回収しそのSEMを用いた組織観察を行った.加えて,非弾性散乱の第一原理計算によって,横波モードの強度の予測を行っている.そして,これらを組み合わせて,横波モードの強度が大きい理由を解明しつつある.
金属レニウムの縦波・横波モードを高温高圧において測定に成功した.その結果は解析中である.この解析を行うことによって,地球核に及ぶ超高圧における高温での絶対圧力スケールの構築をする.また,使用している高圧X線非弾性散乱の測定システムを用いて核を構成するhcp-FeおよびFeNiSi鉄合金の音速を,室温のもとで地球の内核に及ぶ高圧のもとで測定することができた.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

金属レニウムを用いた室温での一次圧力スケールを確立するとともに,両面加熱測温システム(COMPAT)の改良を行い,2000 Kまでの高温におけるレニウムの 圧力スケー ルを決定する.これによって,地球核領域において,これまでより正確な圧力値を求める .
前年度に引き続いて,白金,オスミウムについて,縦波速度,密度とともに横波速度を測定し,これらの金属が圧力スケール物質として使用可能かを検討する.さらに,核を構成するhcp-FeおよびFeNiSi合金に対して,地球核をカバーす る 高温高圧下において密度,縦波・ 横波速度の測定を試みる.
