Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高圧下におけるX線非弾性散乱実験および粉末X線回折実験によって,六方最密充填構造をもつ金属レニウムの縦波速度,横波速度と密度の同時測定を室温において行った.金属レニウムにおいては,230 GPaまでの圧力条件で,縦波,横波については,X線非弾性散乱法によって決定し,密度については,粉末X線回折法を用いて決定することができた.得られた結果を用いて室温における一次圧力スケールの構築を試みた.今回の測定では,理想的な金属レニウム結晶において理論的に期待されるよりも非常に大きな非弾性散乱の横波モードが測定された.この強い横波モードの原因を解明するために,常圧において変形した金属レニウム結晶のX線非弾性散乱実験をおこなうとともに,第一原理計算を行い,結晶の変形組織の非弾性散乱ピークに与える影響を明らかにし,今回の大きな横波のモードの測定結果と矛盾しない計算結果を得ることができた.この結果にもとづいて,金属レニウムによる絶対圧力スケールを決定した.そして,その結果を論文として取りまとめ,国際誌に投稿を行い,現在査読意見にしたがって改訂作業中である.さらに,鉄-ニッケル-ケイ素合金の音速測定を高温高圧下において行っている.また,地球の核を構成する金属鉄の室温における音速を,地球の内核に相当する300 GPaを超える圧力条件において測定し,その結果を学会で発表するとともに,査読論文として国際誌に発表した.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

高圧下におけるX線非弾性散乱実験および粉末X線回折実験によって,以下の研究を行っている.室温において,金属レニウムの縦波速度,横波速度,そして密度を,核マントル境界を超える200 GPa以上の圧力条件まで決定した.得られたデータを用いて,この圧力領域における室温の絶対圧力スケールを構築するためのデータ解析を行った.さらに,金属レニウムの非弾性散乱の横波モードの強度が,理論的に予測される強度よりも大きいことが判明し,その原因を明らかにするために,加圧試料を回収して走査型電子顕微鏡を用いた組織観察を行い,同時に,X線非弾性散乱についての第一原理計算によって,横波モードの強度の予測を行った.そして,これらを組み合わせて,レニウム試料の変形が横波モードの強度が大きい原因であることを明らかにした.さらに,高温高圧下において金属レニウムの縦波・横波モードの測定に成功した.また,レニウムの実験で使用した高圧X線非弾性散乱測定システムを用いて,地球の核を構成する金属鉄の室温における音速を,地球の内核に相当する300 GPaを超える圧力条件で測定した.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

金属レニウムを用いた室温での一次圧力スケールを地球核の圧力まで,確立することができた.今後,今回得られた金属レニウムによる一次圧力スケールと先行研究によるレニウムの衝撃圧縮実験,およびレニウムスケールに基づいた酸化マグネシウムと金属鉄の状態方程式とこれらの衝撃圧縮実験の結果を比較し,レニウムスケールと衝撃圧縮実験のユゴニオとの整合性の評価を行いたい.また,X線非弾性散乱実験において,両面レーザー加熱測温システムの改良を行い,2000 Kを超える高温におけるレニウムの圧力スケールの決定を試みたい.さらに,地球核を構成する金属鉄および鉄-ニッケル-ケイ素合金に対して,核をカバーする高温高圧下において,音速と密度の測定を試みたい.
