Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、大気を持つ地球型惑星の比較に基づき、惑星大気・宇宙環境の理解に向けた2つの重要な要素(宇宙空間への大気散逸と内部磁気圏の形成)に、固有磁場強度が与える影響を解明することを目的としている。そのために、独自の多成分MHDモデルと内部磁気圏モデルを観測との比較を通して改良するとともに、多流体MHDモデルを新たに開発した。最終年度の2023年度には以下のような主な成果が得られ、固有磁場強度の磁気嵐や電離大気散逸に与える影響に対する重要な知見が得られ、M型星まわりの系外惑星の大気散逸研究への応用などに発展した。
・開発した多流体MHDモデルを用いた研究によって、電離圏イオン流出を主とする分子イオンの散逸が従来の研究で用いた多成分MHDモデルでは過小評価されており、特に固有磁場強度が強い場合には3桁ほど分子イオンの散逸率が増大することが明らかとなった。このことは、強い固有磁場を保持する惑星からの電離大気散逸に対しては、少なくとも多流体MHDモデルが必要であることを示唆している。
・地球磁気研でイオンを加速するBBELF波動の強度について、FAST衛星のデータ解析で磁気嵐時のカスプの高度4000 km付近での加速イオンと同時にイオンサイクロトロン周波数付近に見られる低周波広帯域の波動強度を明らかにするとともに、EISCATレーダーの長期間観測データを用いて、磁気嵐時の分子イオン上昇流の統計解析を実施し、電子降下と対流電場上昇の2つのメカニズムの発動条件を明らかにした。
・プラズマ圏モジュールを追加した内部磁気圏結合モデルを用いた数値実験により、惑星起源低エネルギーイオンプラズマのつくる急激な密度勾配にともなってULF波動が励起することが示された。また、固有磁場が弱まった場合の磁気嵐への影響を調べ、地上で観測される磁気嵐の規模は大きく、時定数は短くなることが示された。
