Outline of Annual Research Achievements

単層カーボンナノチューブ(SWCNT)やヘテロナノチューブ(MoS2-NT,BN-NTなど)の成長技術開発に成功し,その成長メカニズムの解析を行った.SWCNT合成技術や同位体炭素を用いた成長メカニズムの分析により,より詳細な成長機構についての知見を得ている.さらに,SWCNTをテンプレートとし,その外層に異なるナノチューブの合成や,ヘテロナノチューブ合成後に特定のナノチューブを除去することによって,これまで単独では合成することのできなかった様々なナノチューブ材料の創出を実現している.また,ヘテロナノチューブ成長メカニズムの解明を目指し,グラフェンやBN層など様々な2次元積層の成長についての詳細な解析を行った.
さらにこれらヘテロナノチューブの光学特性,熱伝導特性などを明らかにした.光学特性としてはBN-NT@単層MoS2-NTの合成に成功し,さらにその蛍光発光スペクトルの検出に成功している.
また,透過型電子顕微鏡による原子レベルでのヘテロナノチューブ構造の解析(層間構造,カイラリティの相関など)にも成功した.同時に,量子計算による電子構造計算や分子動力学法を用いた熱伝導計算も進め,実験結果との直接的な比較・分析を行った.
応用としては,ペロブスカイト太陽型太陽電池へのナノチューブ応用やドーピング効果による変換効率の向上,ヘテロナノチューブの過飽和吸収を用いたモードロックレーザー発振,また光電子デバイス作製に成功した.

Reason

ヘテロナノチューブの合成研究だけでなく,その光学特性,熱伝導特性などの物性研究や量子計算等の理論研究と合わせた物性も計画以上に進展させることができた.そのことを受け,モードロックレーザーや光電子デバイスへの応用研究も加速することに成功した.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

単層CNTやBN-NT,MoS2-NT等を組み合わせたヘテロナノチューブの合成においては,カイラリティ制御を目指した詳細な構造制御合成技術の実現を目指していく.具体的には,予めカイラリティを特定したSWCNTをテンプレートとし,そこにどのようなカイラリティの外層が成長するのか,そして内外層の原子構造の相関を光学計測や透過型電子顕微鏡観察を用いて分析していく.
また,様々な遷移金属ダイカルゴゲナイト物質のヘテロナノチューブ化も進める.
応用に向けては,ペロブスカイト太陽型太陽電池,光電子デバイス,モードロックレーザー等,ヘテロナノチューブの光学特性,電気伝導特性を生かした応用展開を進めて行く.
