Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、単層(SW)カーボンナノチューブ(CNT)をテンプレートに用い、その外層へ窒化ホウ素ナノチューブ(BNNT)や二硫化モリブデンナノチューブ(MoS2NT)などを形成することで、異なるナノチューブによる入れ子構造を有するヘテロナノチューブを制御合成する技術を確立するとともに、その構造を活用したデバイスの開発を実施してきた。本年度は、化学気相成長法による材料合成の面においては、特定のカイラリティを分離したSWCNTを孤立架橋させる手法を確立することで、構造の定まったテンプレートを用いたSWCNT-BNNTヘテロナノチューブの合成を実現した。得られたヘテロナノチューブについて高分解能電子顕微鏡によりその構造の評価を行った。本成果は、特定の電気特性やバンドギャップを有するSWCNTをヘテロナノチューブデバイスに活用するための基礎技術となるという点で重要である。また、垂直配向SWCNTをテンプレートに用いた外層へのBNNTの形成と内層SWCNTの除去を行うことで、垂直配向BNNTを形成することに成功した。従来の合成法により得られるBNNTは直径が大きいものに限られていたが、本研究により比較的小直径の垂直配向BNNTが初めて得られた。また、外層へのCNTやMoS2NTの形成やその結晶性の向上を行い、様々なナノチューブをデバイス応用に適した任意の順序で得るための方針を確立した。さらに、SWCNT同士の相互作用による熱伝導特性の変化の計測や、SWCNTを用いたペロブスカイト型太陽電池の開発、SWCNT-BNNTヘテロナノチューブを用いた電界効果トランジスタなどの開発を行い、SWCNTと周囲物質の相互作用による特性の変化、デバイス性能への影響について知見を得た。
