エッジサーバは、IoTデバイスの周辺にサーバを配置し、中間処理して必要なデータのみを回線に送り出す。このようなエッジコンピューティング型IoTシステムの開発において、低消費電力等IoT特有の条件をクリアするプログラム言語を開発する。IoTアプリケーションの開発効率が上がることの社会的意義は大きい。
IoTデバイス上の動的コンパイルやガーベージコレクションをエッジサーバの処理に移すなどの機能を提供する独創性の高い領域特化プログラミング言語(DSL, Domain Specific Language)を開発する。高水準言語の生産性の高さを生かせる実質的な成果が得られることが期待される。
