Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research is a comprehensive historical study of Eisanji, a Shingon sect temple located in Gojo City, Nara Prefecture. Specifically, the purpose is to conduct research on the historical materials of Eisanji Temple and on-site research on the former territory of Eisanji Temple. By combining the above two researchs, we will clarify the history of Eisanji Temple.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では史料調査と現地調査とを二本柱とするが、新型コロナウイルス感染症の発生で大掛かりな調査は見送らざるを得なかった。それでも、適宜代替的な措置を講じることで所期の目的を一定程度達成することができた。史料調査に関しては、栄山寺・陽明文庫・国立歴史民俗博物館が所蔵する栄山寺文書の原本調査やデジタル撮影を行い、天理大学附属天理図書館が所蔵する旧栄山寺領関連史料も新たに発見できたことで、研究資源の充実化に貢献できた。また、現地調査についても、五條市役所が所蔵する地籍図の調査・撮影とその分析を通じて字堺の復元や字名の比定などを行うことができ、地域の歴史・地理情報の研究資源化に取り組むことができた。
