Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、ピレンを構成ユニットとして0価ニッケルを用いたジハロピレン (あるいはジ擬ハロゲン化ピレン) の山本カップリング反応によって、様々な結合位置をもつ一連の直接結合型環状ピレン多量体の合成に成功し、ユニークな構造に由来する特異な機能の発現を明らかにした。大きな歪みエネルギーを駆動力とした反応や空孔を利用したホスト-ゲスト化学、不斉ねじれの発現、加熱による構造変換の制御など、シクロアリーレン特有の物性を見出した。
4,10位直接結合型環状ピレン多量体 (vCPn) の合成およびその構造的特性評価に成功した。ここでは5,9-ジヨードピレンを原料として用い、Ni(cod)2を用いたカップリング反応により、一連のvCPnを合成した。これらのvCPnはそれぞれ複数のアトロプ異性体を持っており、加熱による構造変換を確認した。これらの構造変化の機構を理解するために、1) (R,S,R,S,,,) の立体配置パターンが最も熱力学的に安定であり、2) 3つの連続する配座は避けられる、というシンプルな2つの仮説を提案し、実際に適用することで構造変換の仕組みを簡便に説明することができた。
さらに、これまでの成果に基づき安定でキラルな空間を構築する目的で7,7'-ビス(トリフルオロメタンスルホニルオキシ)-1,1'-ビピレニルを原料として、1,7-7',1'位直接結合型環状ピレン4量体 (cCP4) の合成を行った。cCP4は2ヶ所の軸不斉を有し、光学分割後にラセミ化しないため、中心の空孔にアキラルなゲスト分子を取り込むことでエネルギー移動または電荷移動による可視光領域のCPL発光が期待できる。
