Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Dissolved oxygen loggers and temperature loggers were setup at 5 sites. Daily photosynthetic photon flux density and wind speed was also monitored. Two sites were setup at Undaria pinnatifida farms in Matsushima Bay and Hirota Bay, one site was at a Cladosiphon okamuranus farm at Bise point, and one site was at a natural seaweed bed in Arikawa Bay.
Our research revealed distinct variations in oxygen concentrations due to differences in the photosynthetic ability among the 5 sites. Bayesian models are being redesigned to address these differences. Some of the results of our work are being presented at national conferences and scientific manuscripts.

Data collection and analysis is proceeding as planned with little problems during field work.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

We plan to continue our field work and monitoring. No changes are planned to any protocols, due to the steady stream of high quality data.
