| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
慢性的なグルコキナーゼ活性化により発現が上昇する膵島の分子群を同定したが、その中にパルミチン酸刺激でも発現が上昇するUncoupling protein 2（UCP2）とS100 calcium-binding protein A8（S100A8）があり、糖毒性と脂肪毒性の両者で共通して上昇する分子として注目してきた。カルシウムイメージングにより、UCP2やAldBの過剰発現が小胞体からのカルシウム流入によりインスリン分泌に関与していることも突き止めた。また、UCP2やAldBの過剰発現は、GPR40アゴニストによるインスリン分泌増強が低下していた。UCP2やAldBによるSOCE（store-operated Ca2＋ entry）を介したインスリン分泌制御機構に関して検証し、論文化した。
マウス腹腔内に組み換えS100A8タンパクを投与したところ、想定外にLPSによる敗血症性ショックを抑制した。S100A8はLPS等のエンドトキシンと相互作用する可能性が示唆され、膵β細胞や多臓器におけるLPSやTLR4との相互作用を解析し、論文化した。
