Outline of Annual Research Achievements

<<ミュオン位置計算手法の開発>>前年度に論文化されたLa系銅酸化物高温超伝導体の凡密度関数を用いた第一原理計算に関して、計算プログラムをアップグレードしてこれまで用いることができなかった電子相関関数と機械学習機能を取り込むことによってより高速な計算を行うことを可能にした。これにより、我々が本予算支援で開発したミュオン位置計算手法をより多くの物質系に応用することを可能にした。
<<有機伝導体の電子状態>>低次元性結晶内でπ結合を行う電子雲の持つ電子スピンの状態に関しての計算を進めた。これにより、電子スピンの結晶内での量子的広がりを明らかにするとともに、低次元性結晶面間を結合させる分子の持つ電子雲の広がりが重要であることが判明した。現在、一連の結果を取りまとめて論文を執筆中であり、早急に世界に向けて我々のミュオン位置計算の手法を公表していく。
<<パイロクロア磁性体>>La系銅酸化物において開発した電子状態にかかる第一原理計算を利用、Nd系パイログロアイリジウム酸化物の電子状態を調べた。その結果、結晶格子の微妙な変化がフェルミ面の電子状態に大きく影響することを発見し、この系特有にみられる金属・絶縁体転移が結晶によって引き起こされる可能性を示唆した。成果はInteraction(旧Hyperfine Interaction)に公表された。
<<銅酸化物のストライプ>>第一原理計算によりミュオン位置を同定する研究手法が確立されたため、ストライプ状態に関する応用を進めることが可能になった。計算と比較すべき高統計μSRデータを取得することが必要であるが、加速器の故障等により実験実施が遅れている。加速器運転再開とともに実験を実施して研究計画を早期に完了させる。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

第一原理計算と比較すべきミュオンデータが、予定していた研究施設の長期にわたるメンテナンス作業に加えて、作業後の動作不良のために、約1年以上も測定計画が遅れてしまった。これにより、実験データによるミュオン位置計算の細かい調整をおこなうことが困難になり研究進捗の遅延を引き起こしている。これらコロナ禍にかかる一連の外部遅延要素により研究の進捗が当初計画通りに進ませることが困難であった。また研究代表者が研究期間後半に予期せず網膜剥離を患ってしまい、研究のとりまとめにかかる議論および最終的な実験データの取得が不可能になった。これによりさらに研究の遅延を招いてしまった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

研究期間後半で実施できなかったミュオンデータの取得を急ぐ。利用を計画していた英国のRutherford-Appleton研究所の再稼働が遅れており、それに伴う積み残し課題の実施が優先されている。このため、ミュオンパルスの幅の値を考えると理想的はないが、J-PARCにおける実験も検討する。主としてパイロクロア酸化物を測定し、第一原理計算の結果から推察している電子状態と結晶構造の関係の詳細を解明する。これにより、本研究計画で目標としたミュオン位置を決めるための第一原理計算の開発を完了する。これらの成果を踏まえて年度後半には全体のとりまとめ会議を開催し、研究成果の論文化を加速させる。
