Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1. Continued working on the scientific publication that was first submitted in 2020. I Developed and included an additional experiment and it was accepted for publication. Thanks to this process I have now gained important skills necessary for my next publication and doctoral thesis writing, necessary for the following academic year. 2. I planned and programmed new experiments for a second publication. The objective was to explore whether the Hebb repetition effect can be transferred from a complex span task to a partial simple span task. 3. Attended and gave an oral presentation at the 18th annual meeting held online by the Japanese Society for Working Memory.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Starting from 2020 the experiments had been delayed because it took some time to adjust to new experimental conditions because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the plan for 2021 was also somewhat delayed, however, it was possible to collect and analyze data and start writing a new scientific article. It was also possible to disseminate my research findings in online conferences.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I will continue investigating the Hebb repetition effect in complex span memory tasks. The most recent experiments have shown that the mechanism underlying the Hebb repetition effect in complex and simple span tasks is the same. We will now focus on how are the distractors in a complex span task being processed, given that they do not seem to have an impact on Hebb repetition learning. Moreover, I will continue working on publishing my research findings and presenting them at national and international conferences.
