Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
To establish a multiplex detection based on the signal, the first year aims to study and investigate the nanocarrier preparation to introduce the suitable chromogen in the virus biosensor. Considering the result and the prior study, higher encapsulation efficiency is the main factor to amplify the detection signal. In the first-year, we can achieve high encapsulation degree for the chromogen and applied in the catalytic oxidation colorimetric for respiratory viruses. This first-year study has been disclosed and reported in Journal 'Nanoscale' (Publication no.1) and communicated in international symposium and conference. This year, the progress concluded the successful implementation of polymeric nanocarrier for virus detection based on the introduction of the substrate signal.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Following the proposal and the research plan, the first-year progress is focusing on the understanding the nanocarrier preparation and its preliminary study on the virus detection. Based on the research progress, the study is completed up to the preparation of high-loading chromogen in the nanocarrier in form of nanoparticles within nanovesicles for the dual signal amplification purpose. The detection using this nanocarrier showed higher signal amplification compared to the published work, showing a good remark in the nanocarrier strategy in virus detection. Although, the study has continued to investigate the signal of the mixture chromogens, however, the result is not yet completed and the progress will be disclosed for the upcoming year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The next approach in this study will be developing a chromogen-embedded nanocarrier in electrochemical and virus sensing platform fabrication in a multiplex detection model. The multiplex detection will be the primary aim in the second-year term. Reflecting from the current progress, the preparation of the nanocarrier is involving two-step method, including protein-assisted precipitation and polymeric encapsulation. On the second term, the study will modify the preparation of the polymeric nanoencapsulation for one-step method. Differ from the previous study, which is only utilizing one chromogen, the next study will investigate the multiple signal of the chromogen substrate for the multiple virus detection in a single analysis.
