Outline of Final Research Achievements

Purpose of this research is that will define the post war Okinawan Photography is very important media: and archive the documents of the post war Okinawan peoples thought.
Results of this studies are (1) Archives of documents of Okinawan photo and people intellectual history: (2) Reading a paper of the post war Okinawan photo at the meeting of Society, and Publishing the dissertation: (3) Reporting the article of Okinawan photo in okinawan newspapers, and Participation to project of exhibition of Okinawan photo.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

戦後の沖縄写真史において、比嘉康雄は写真家として認められているが、阿波根昌鴻は、未だ写真家としては認められてこなかった。従来は比嘉と阿波根との関わりには注目されてこなかったけれども、本研究によって、両者の関連が明らかとなり、その写真及び思想の関連性について論じることができるようになった。また、阿波根の資料の中で写真ネガを整理・保存することによって、そのプリントを活用することができるようになり、これをデジタル化し、プリントを展示する展覧会を複数回実施することができるようになったのも、大きな成果である。近年、阿波根が写真家として広く県内外で認知されるようになってきたのは、大きな社会的意義がある。
