Outline of Final Research Achievements

A haiku group in Kyoto in the late Edo period conducted research on Basho's haiku and a project to honor him. In this study, we focused on materials that individuals have or have difficulty viewing. Then, I published it on the web.
First, Rakushisha, where Basho stayed in Kyoto, was lost soon after Basho's death. Jyuko Inoue revived Rakushisha. I considered his business. Next, Bashodo in Rakuto, which popularized Basho's haiku, published ``Hana Kuyo'' with the participation of haiku poets from all over the country. I have considered this material. Furthermore, I examined materials on Basho's haiku written by retainers of the Yodo domain in Kyoto. I also read a haiku poem about Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

近世後期の俳諧は芭蕉顕彰を軸として展開する。芭蕉俳諧の理念の追究と顕彰事業の両輪によって進んでいく。この様相を概観する資料が『花供養』である。これは、京都に限らず全国に波及するので地域的にも重要である。さらには天明六年以降の近世後期をカバーするので、近世後期の俳諧研究が遅れている現状を補う学術的意義は大きい。また、これらに関する保存と閲覧の難しい個人蔵の資料も併せて収集、考察、WEB公開することによって、広く認知される社会的意義も大きいと考えている。本研究では、近世後期の芭蕉顕彰の受容を考察する中で、芭蕉堂の建立、芭蕉句碑の建立、落柿舎の再興など、芭蕉の偶像化の重要性が注目された。
