Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
My research proposal was to travel to minority language communities and investigate the state of publishing and translation of children’s literature. It was also to attend international conferences and present research. Due to covid-19 I have not been able to travel, and the international conferences I had applied for were cancelled. Instead, I have been researching in books, journals and internet sources. I am currently writing a paper on the background to translation into minority languages, aimed at an international children’s literature journal.
This year I have applied to present at international conferences. This year conferences are likely to be online and if accepted I shall present from Japan. My aims this year are to write as much as possible on the research I have already done.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Last year travel was cancelled due to covid 19. I could not collect data or present at international conferences.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Once physical travel becomes possible I plan to return to my original research plan. In 2022 I should have a sabbatical year and hope to concentrate some of the travel based research into that year. I hope to extend the research period by one or two years so that I can fulfil my research aims. For the moment, as travel is restricted, I shall concentrate on writing papers for academic journals. I have a moderate amount of data which I collected before covid 19 started and I can use this for interim research publication.

Causes of Carryover |
All my travel based research activities were cancelled due to the effects of covid 19. As such, all my research activities were based on academic journals and internet research. As such, I did not use any of the funds allocated.
