Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In discussing the continuity of causative constructions, it became apparent that the analysis from a cognitive linguistic perspective is more effective than syntactic analysis. This approach emphasizes that the origin of action in Shibatani (2006) is what Choi (2018) refers to as "epistemic precedence." In other words, it defines causative situations from the speaker's recognition perspective and argues that the process of causative situations performed by the speaker is metonymy, as defined in cognitive linguistics.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
