Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research this year follows the research from last year, i.e. language contacts within the British Isles. This will be an underlying theme in this research, and will be studied throughout this project. What is new in this domain is the incorporation of archaeological studies, which reveals how the Vikings settled in Britain. Uniformitarianism, especially catastrophism, is used as a guide to see how the contact influenced the spread of the get-passive.
A new paper has been accepted for presentation concerning transitivity and the get-passive. This paper allows me to look into finer details of the construction in question, and see whether this behaves like the passive or the middle voice.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The current affiliation has been going through a merger with another university, which forces teaching staffs to deal excessively with administration. This leaves us little time for research. The environment is not ideal for any intellectual activities, and I should have known this. There is no crying over split milk, but this is very regrettable. I fell that I need to make some actions to improve this situation.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Due to the COVID, I am not planning to travel abroad now, but I will work on research possible with secondary materials. I will keep participating in conferences to present my new ideas.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the insane amount of administrations at work as a result of the merger of two universities, I did not have time to spend even a penny.
