Outline of Final Research Achievements

We found out that 1) when L2 learners (children and students) select constructions during conversation, they are subject to many factors (beside the knowledge of constructions) such as error prediction, adjustment of coverage, accessibility to constructions, and purpose of conversation. Additionally, it is found out that 2) adults tend to select constructions based on their past experience, that is, familiarity to constructions. These results suggest that children and learners do not have enough experience, compared with adults, so that they are influenced by their ability, skills, and circumstances.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
