Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year we spent a lot of time analyzed the remaining data derived from the study. We completed analysis of quantitative data from the eye tracking part of the study as well as from surveys, and we also began transcribing the interviews which were held after participants had completed the eye tracking component. Two of the researchers (Harris, J & Leeming, P) gave a paper presentation at an international vocabulary acquisition conference about the results of our study. Based on peer feedback from this presentation, we completed the first research paper for potential publication which will be sent for review soon. We also began work on a second paper looking at the overall effect of pre-task type on reading.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The delay in the study was due to a late start because of the COVID19 pandemic. However, now things are running more smoothly and we are about to start sending out our findings in the form of research papers for possible publication in academic journals.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Now that our first research paper is about to be sent for review at a journal, we plan to compete a second paper during this year which will focus on the overall goal of the study, which is how pre-task type affects language learner reading style. We plan to work on analysis of data for the purpose of that paper, and then present about it at an international conference. Based on feedback from that, we plan to complete the final paper within this year ready for publication.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The amount will be used for travel to international conferences where we will present the results of our study and collect feedback in order to complete research papers for publication.
