Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Research achievements have been made by a mixed method approach combining qualitative and quantitative research methods. The ongoing online questionnaire got more than 60 replies. The resulting database has been analyzed with SPSS. Preliminary results were presented at the 2022 conference of GCEG and 2023 annual meeting of AAG. Participative observation at the level of the DJW has been conducted. The working group (AG) Intercultural Management discussed a) innovation, and b) intercultural competence. Participation in a DJW member’s workshop on intercultural mediation showed that conflicting parties can learn to reconcile and develop a common interest. From the interview survey with agile members I learnt that their skills and experiences are valuable resources that can be facilitated creating an intercultural community. The results implied that cultural and cognitive proximity, networking important for synergy creation and/or creation innovative spaces. The focus group approach during the AG meetings showed in detail how innovative spaces can be created by agile and aligned DJW members. Cultural adjustment and networking efforts helped to create proximity reconciling managerial practices. AG meetings and workshops can be perceived as opportunities creating spaces of innovation where best practice and new value sets are discussed to solve common problems in an emerging global community.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Unfortunately, during the covid-19 period I got a sabbatical conducting field studies in Germany. Because of the lock-down and covid-19 regulations it was difficult to meet and interview people face to face. Back to Japan making online appointments for interviews with Germany-based members was difficult because of the time difference. In order to complete lately the proposed empirical research, I conducted interview study trip to Germany in February / March 2023. As a result, more than 40 interviews, a dozens of AG meetings and many symposia have been recorded. Using the AI software such as AutoMemo.com I produced transcripts but more time and patient is need to corrected these documents to be analyzed with the software MAXQDA as proposed. Systematic analyses of the visualized alteri networks that have been achieved through the online questionnaire remains an academic challenge that demands theorizing on networking and innovation creation.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Further analysis will be conducted with the database from the online questionnaire survey that has been conducted as ongoing survey during the entire research project. Using the software automemo.com I will complete producing text files or transcripts that can be analyzed with the software MAXQDA. A coding system will be created that helps to conduct the qualitative analysis testing the hypotheses: H1. Behavioral intelligence creates (inter-)cultural proximity that enables the promoter to function successfully as a boundary spanner between geographical and cultural distance locations. H2. Intercultural balanced proximity heightens the possibility of innovation, synergy creation. H3. Higher levels of operational integration generally lead to greater organizational supporting the formation of spaces of new innovation communities. From the qualitative survey more evidence will be provided supporting the qualitative research findings. I will make an effort to theorize intercultural teamwork under the focus of cultural synergy creation in purpose to analyses the visualized alteri networks. Finally, the results of the mixed method approach will be introduced at the 2024 Spring AJG meeting and a 2024 IGU mini-conference of the commission on the dynamics of industrial spaces at Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus.
