Outline of Final Research Achievements

This project aims to shed light on the current state of economic oligopoly in our country, particularly by focusing on a certain industry and evaluating it both theoretically and quantitatively from the perspective of common ownership (the shared ownership of capital). The hypothesis that the shared ownership distorts market competition has been claimed for some time, however, there is a scarcity of evidence in our country. Specifically, in this research, we attempt to provide new insights into the current situation in our country, where evidence is lacking, by applying theoretical and quantitative methods to specific domestic cases, examining the impact and influence of oligopoly in the environments such as joint sales and management integration.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

デジタル化やコロナ禍において経済の寡占化が世界各国で進行したと指摘され、政策執行の低下を指摘する声がある。しかし具体的な行為に対して執行される政策の観点から、経済の寡占化をどう捉えるべきか、議論が深まっているとはいいがたい。本プロジェクトでは、鉄鋼や航空などの産業において、資本所有の共有化がどのような現象を生み出しているのか、それに対して産業政策・競争政策に対する含意を分析した。合併審査における厚生評価基準の考え方や空港におけるスロット配分に対する資本所有の共有化の意味など、競争政策や産業政策に対して、いくつか具体的な政策的示唆を本研究で指摘し、今後の政策立案の方向性を示した。
