Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The project aims to investigate how to develop Asian value-oriented inclusive leadership by employing the idea of the Varieties of Capitalism (VoC) and its link to corporate social responsibility (CSR) dynamics in Asia. The goal of this exploratory stage was to find the answers on research questions regarding Asian VoC contexts and CSR dynamics. During this period, I carried out extensive interviews with CEOs in Japan in order to secure an in depth understanding of the phenomenon. The point of departure for this stage is to identify the Asian-unique inclusive leadership approach and current CSR phenomenon in Asia. My critical analysis on CSR in contemporary capitalism was published in one of the SSCI listed journals (Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility, *impact factor: 6.967). I also attended a number of conferences in FY2021 including EIBA and EURAM conferences.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The investigation including extensive interview was also planned in three additional nations such as Korea, India and Singapore, which are key leading countries in Asia in terms of debates on capitalism, Asian value and CSR. However, it was difficult for me to visit overseas due to COVID-19 pandemic.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Additional interviews with Asian CEOs will be continued. Through the process of phase 1 and 2, I will critically investigate the potential of creating Asian value-based inclusive leadership by exploring the link/gap between the VoC views and CSR issues in Asia. As a final stage, I will create an ‘Asian value-oriented Inclusive Leadership Model’ and propose new implications for practice and research, and Asian society.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to COVID-19 related travel disruptions, I could not travel as planned. Pending overseas business trips will be completed this year. In order to find the answers on research questions regarding Asian inclusive leadership, I will visit in Korea and India, and have in-depth interviews with CEOs and stakeholders of corporations. In order to gain feedback on my research outcome and make progress, I will also submit the paper to the renowned academic conferences (EURAM and EIBA etc.) and attend the conferences if my paper is accepted for presentation via peer-review process.
