Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
After our manuscript was rejected by a top-tier journal, my collaborators in Australia and Sweden and I extensively revised and re-submitted it to another leading international journal. Currently, the manuscript is under review, and we are waiting for the outcome.
To systematically summarise the studies on well-being in the hospitality industry and to better understand the context of our own research, my collaborators and I have held a series of online meetings. These meetings have allowed us to prepare a manuscript that comprehensively summarises the existing literature on employee well-being and recovery.
In December, I presented the progress of my project and its preliminary findings at an international conference, the Asia Pacific Conference 2022, which took place in Japan.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The persistent COVID-19 situation has had a notable impact on my ability to travel, particularly internationally, and to hold face-to-face meetings with our collaborators and representatives from the hotels where we plan to collect data. In combination with other commitments and unforeseen personal matters, the progress made during AY2022 has not been as extensive as initially anticipated.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
While awaiting the outcome of the manuscript currently under review, I will proceed to finalise another manuscript that is currently being developed in collaboration with my colleague. This manuscript will present a systematic review of well-being studies within the hospitality industry, contextualising our research within the broader literature.
In addition, I will arrange a series of business trips both domestically and internationally to facilitate discussions with my collaborators and representatives from the targeted hotels regarding our research plan.
Simultaneously, efforts will be directed towards developing an instrument to collect data to underpin the construction of a framework of employee recovery at work and devising a comprehensive data collection plan.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Along with other commitments and unforeseen personal matters, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the difficulty to conduct a series of domestic and international travels. The unutilised funds allocated for such purposes during AY2022 will be repurposed towards the revised plans for AY2023. These revised plans encompasses the procurement of essential products as well as the resumption of domestic and international trips.
