| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study attempts to theoretically renew consumer society theory by introducing the development of the philosophy of materiality into sociology, and to reevaluate the "ethical consumption of goods" in a manner different from that of semiotics. we deepened themes such as the hedonistic nature of ethical consumption, the morality of shopping, prosumers, the internalization of the consumer movement, the development of alliances between production and consumption, the practice of regulating plastic use, the philosophy of minimalism, and the commodification of the beauty of use, and comprehensively examined these themes from the perspective of the "Enlightenment from Below".
These consequences encourage a reconsideration of fetishism. A new theoretical renewal was proposed to shift the criticism of consumer society from the destruction of fetish to the construction of it.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究の意義は、第１にサステナブルな経済における消費社会のあり方の理論的視座を開示するという点にある。枯渇するエネルギー資源のなかで、GDP増大とは異なる幸福のあり方を追求する上でのありうべき人とモノの関係を示すのが本研究である。また、第２に消費者庁を軸に政府が現在検討している倫理的消費の諸政策について、よりよい政策を提案することに貢献するという点も挙げられる。物質的禁欲とは異なる仕方で「市民」のあり方を考えていくことが本研究の射程に含まれる。第3に、実在性を問い直す社会学の今日の潮流のなかで、消費社会論を新たに位置付け直すという点にある
