Outline of Final Research Achievements

Considering the support for the social reintegration of juveniles after release from the juvenile training school, it became clear that the following are necessary:　1) Enriching opportunities for interaction between juveniles from the perspective of social contact within the facility.2) Adjusting the living environment for juveniles from their time in juvenile training school to their post-release life and emphasizing dialogue-based interactions during community-based treatment.3) Creating opportunities to establish a shared understanding of the abovementioned points (1 and 2) in both community-based and facility-based treatment.
Furthermore, the study suggests considering the implementation of the "Import & Export Model" in Japan, which is currently being implemented in Nordic countries.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究から、矯正施設が福祉・医療・教育的支援について地域の社会資源を積極的に活用し、オープンな形でそれぞれの役割、職業アイデンティティ等について異なる理解をもつ専門職が集まり、交流をするような組織づくりを構築することの重要性が示唆された。ノルウェーでは1990年代よりこのような仕組み導入しており、エビデンスに基づく実践が展開されている。今後も引き続き日本における同様のモデル導入の実現可能性を検討することで、少年院をはじめ、家庭、教育、福祉、保健、医療など、子どもを取り巻く現場にいる人々に対して、学術的な拠り所となる考え方や有用な指針を提示する一助と成り得ると考える。
