Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In response to the social transformation brought about by the advent of a knowledge-based society and a data-driven society, we examined the issues in utilizing and integrating diverse knowledge and other resources to aim for problem-solving and the creation of social value through more meaningful practices of STEAM education. Simultaneously, we explored the trends in STEAM education in various foreign countries and considered the direction of art education in competency-based curricula from the perspective of visual literacy development. Particularly concerning the 'A' in STEAM, we explored the direction of implementation focusing on traditional culture education from the perspective of Arts & Humanities. Despite the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to organize basic information on STEAM education and examine the feasibility of its practice.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究の学術的意義や社会的意義は、まずSTEAM教育の歴史的背景や諸外国の動向を整理したこと、次に資質・能力の観点からヨーロッパ共通の枠組みを提案したENViLの援用可能性について検討すると同時に、具体的な実践の提案をしたことである。STEAM教育については、予備的考察にとどまった部分もあるが、Arts & Humanitiesの視点で人間陶冶的側面を重視した方向性を打ち出し、STEAMを教科領域名の省略形ではなく、Self-Social Transformative Education through Arts Mediationといったより教育的趣旨を踏まえた方向性を示したことである。
