Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research project aimed to develop international service-learning (ISL) studies (global citizenship and cross-cultural understanding) through collaboration between universities in Japan and abroad. The three main areas of achievement were: (1) creating an infrastructure for international joint research on ISL studies and to contribute to the dissemination of the latest trends, research, and skills in Japan; (2) designing a framework for service-learning programs in collaboration between Japan and other countries; and (3) developing a framework for community service-learning programs with the cooperation and advice of researchers in Japan and abroad. participation, global citizenship, and cross-cultural awareness.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日本国内外の大学が体験型教育をカリキュラムに取り入れる傾向が強まる中、本研究の意義は、主に3つのことに分けることができる。第一に、サービス・ラーニングに関する国内外の大学の共通のカリキュラム設計目標を明らかにしたことである。第二に、サービス・ラーニングの体験型教育モデルに関する世界的な潮流を明らかにしたことである。最後に、今後の研究協力の枠組みについて、日本と海外の大学間で情報交換や意見交換を行うことができた。
