The purpose of this study was to create teaching methods and materials tailored to different cognitive processing styles to improve students' understanding and learning from texts. To do this, we examined existing assessment methods and conducted case studies on students who struggle with understanding and creating texts. Our findings highlighted the importance of recognizing how cognitive processing styles impact text comprehension and production. We also recommended developing materials and support strategies that align with students' strong cognitive processing styles and using technology to support weaker cognitive processing styles.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

小学校国語科で課題とされている、文の構成を理解したり表現の工夫を捉えたりすること、目的に応じて文章を要約したり複数の情報を関連付けて理解を深めたりすること、複数の資料から適切な情報を得てそれらを比較したり関連付けたりすること、表現の仕方等について評価することに対して本研究で取り組んだICT活用やその支援方法を活用することができる。認知処理スタイルを考慮することは個別最適な学びに必要不可欠であり、特別支援教育の対象となる児童生徒だけでなく、通常学級に在籍する児童生徒にとっても重要である。自身の得意な認知処理スタイルや認知特性とそれに応じた教材の選択が主体的にできるように働きかけていく必要がある。
