Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Rock samples collected during the past field surveys are under investigation currently. Petrography, mineral chemistry and Zircon EBSD analysis on some thin sections from high and ultrahigh-temperature granulites have been conducted and the work is still in progress. Samples collected from the local field survey have been also investigated for petrography. Zircon identification has been done for some samples and further work is in progress.
Some of the research results have been summarized in a manuscript, which is planned for submission to an international scientific journal within April, 2022.
In addition, an abstract related to the zircon EBSD data has been submitted for the 14th International eclogite conference that will be held in July, 2022. Research results will be presented at the above-mentioned conference.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on traveling and field survey in overseas countries, the work on this project is slightly delayed from the original schedule. However, laboratory work and sample preparation, mineral investigation and analytical work is in progress.
Petrography, mineral chemistry on the thin-sections have been done and still the work in in progress. In-situ EBSD analysis will be done in the current fiscal year. After the EBSD analysis, isotopic work will be conducted during the current fiscal year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As the restrictions on travel are easing due to progress in the COVID vaccination, PI is planing to conduct field survey and sampling for the target high- ad ultrahigh-temperature metamorphic rocks. The collected rocks will be processed and investigated according to the procedure mentioned in the project proposal.
In addition, some of the obtained research results will be presented at an international conference and later published in scientific journal.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions on travels and other activities, the amount of Yen 1,440,457 was not used and should be incurred to the current fiscal year.
The amount will be used for analytical work, lab consumables, overseas field survey and attending/presenting research results at an international conference.
