Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research investigated the ship-ice-wave interaction for the safe navigation of ice-going ships. 1) The 2D experiment using synthetic ice was conducted to measure the motion of the ice pieces in the regular wave and the fixed structure interaction in order to understand the effect of the regular wave on the ice motion neat the structure. 2) The bending strength of the saline ice was measured when the cantilever plate ice was bended. The relationship between the ice micro structure and the ice bending strength was obtained. Additionally, the synthetic ice which can present the ice bending failure was developed. 3) The synthetic plate ice was used in the experiment of wave-plate ice interaction and the plate ice motion and deformation were measured. The model ship test was conducted to measure the ice force in the regular wave. The relationship between regular wave and ice force in the ship advancing into the ice was obtained.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
波浪と海氷の相互影響に関する研究は古くからあったが,構造物と波浪および海氷の相互影響を考えた研究は殆どなく,波浪―海氷―船体の相互影響の解明を試みる本研究課題は学術的意義がある.また,海氷域で稼働する構造物と海氷との間に発生する様々な現象の解明や評価には,氷海水槽を用いた実験が欠かせない.しかし,世界にある氷海水槽の数は僅かで(20施設ほど),氷海水槽の利用には大きな制限がある.本研究課題の氷海水槽を必要としない模擬氷を用いた波浪中の氷海実験の確立は学術的および社会的意義が大きい.さらに,本研究課題の成果は氷海域での船舶の安全航行の実現に大きく貢献でき,さらには,氷海域の環境保全の一助となる.
