Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We examined nonlinear site amplification properties at the S-net seafloor sites during three magnitude 7 class earthquakes in the last year. We found that the seafloor sites experience relatively larger degree of nonlinear site response compared to the nearby land sites. Also, we found that the relatively poor coupling between sediments and sensors at the seafloor sites complicates the accurate analysis of site response for strong shakings. A foundational work was performed to estimate 3D attenuation structure in the seafloor region and results were presented in 2023 Japan Geoscience Union Meeting. In addition, we presented our study findings about the site amplification at the S-net sites in 28th IUGG (International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics) General Assembly held in Berlin in 2023.
