Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
After extensive testing, validation and with the addition of error-reporting, we released STEPS 5.0 in March 2023 as the first public release of STEPS to include all of the vesicle-modelling tools developed within this project. A manuscript that describes all of these features has been accepted by Communications Biology under the Nature portfolio and is awaiting publication. From the computational modelling side, we recently supplemented this work with an experimental study in isolated hippocampal neuron cultures by collaborators that confirms predictions of the model about how the degree of vesicle usage depends on firing frequency. We have now finalised this study and are under the process of submission to a major journal.
