Outline of Annual Research Achievements

３次元生態系ニッチ分化モデリングをするための生物出現データを収集し、中層では高次食物段階にある剛クラゲ類の分布が地球環境の変動でどう変化するかをモデリングする取り組みであった。科学論文で発表されている出現記録、OBIS（海洋生物地理情報システム）出現記録、まだデータベース化されていなかったOcean Networks Canadaの出現記録、MBARIのFathomnetの出現記録などもデータマイニングを行い、出現記録数を増やした。さらに自らNOAAが運用する無人探査機Okeanos ExplorerやNautilus、またはSOIが運用するFalkorのオーストラリア沖の調査海域を提案し、オンラインで潜航調査に参加し、出現分布データを収集した。また、当機構で実施する「かいめい」ROVの調査航海やサウジアラベィアのKAUSTが運用するThuwal/SeaEye Falcon ROVの調査などに参加し、出現記録を収集した。解析及びモデリングを実施した結果、剛クラゲ類の代表種とも言われるカッパクラゲの最適生息環境は低酸素濃度海域に偏り、地球環境変動では分布域を拡大する可能性があることが分かった。この研究課題の結果は査読付き論文をLimnology and Oceanography誌に発表した。また、様々な国際及び国内ワークショップやシンポジウムに口頭発表にて発表した（Deep Sea Biology Symposium, Marine Imaging Workshop, Jellyfish Blooms Workshop, SCAR Open Science Conference etc.）。
