Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Our objective is to understand characteristics of chain migrating neurons, in particular its energy expenditure and metabolic sources. We generated a knockout mice line deficient in a transcription factor known to promote OXPHOS pathway and found that the chain migrating precerebellar neurons showed defect in switching from tangential to radial migration. In a separate approach, we have found that fine-tuning the level of a key adhesion molecule, possibly by a protease system, also contribute to this process.
