ポリコームタンパクEZH2の肝癌微小環境に与える影響を詳細に検証するため、in vivo マウスモデルを用いた実験系を行った。
非肥満性糖尿病／重症複合免疫不全マウスを用いたマウス肝癌細胞皮下移植モデルでは、EZH2阻害剤（UNC1999）が著明に腫瘍増大を抑制するのに対して、同種異所性移植モデル（Hepa1-6細胞を皮下移植したC57BL/6マウス、H22細胞を皮下移植したBalb/cマウス）では、EZH2阻害剤の効果が減じることを示した。
コラゲナーゼ分離後の腫瘍構成細胞のフローサイトメトリー解析の結果、EZH2阻害剤投与により骨髄由来抑制細胞（MDSC）の数が有意に増加していることを見いだした。Gr-1中和抗体の併用投与は、MDSCの減少及びCD8+T細胞数の増加を来たし、抗腫瘍効果を回復させることが明らかになった。
