Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Pediatric familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) screening, initiated through the School Children's Lifestyle-Related Disease Prevention Examination (Kagawa Pediatric Examination), has demonstrated significant benefits for both FH patients and their families. To date, over 400 FH parent-child pairs have been diagnosed in Kagawa Prefecture, leading to an FH diagnosis rate exceeding 10%. Moreover, the scientific evidence gathered in Kagawa has substantially influenced the diagnostic criteria established in the "Pediatric FH Treatment Guidelines 2022." Furthermore, the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) associated with pediatric FH screening is approximately 150,000 yen/QALY, far below the 500,000 yen/QALY threshold for new drug introduction, highlighting the economic advantages of pediatric FH screening.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
