Outline of Final Research Achievements

We investigated the effect of dry eye or loss of Muc16 to corneal sensory nerve regeneration,
neovascularization and lymphangiogenesis following corneal wound healing to elucidate the mechanism of impaired corneal wound healing in dry eye with mucin decrease. Muc16 is not related to corneal sensory nerve regeneration, neovascularization and lymphangiogenesis following corneal wound healing.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

角膜創傷治癒過程での知覚神経再生、角膜新生血管や角膜リンパ管新生とMuc16の有無の影響は確認されなかった。今後は別の観点から、ムチン減少を病態とするドライアイでの角膜創傷治癒過程の異常の病態機序解明、さらにはMuc16のドライアイ診療での役割評価を目指すことが必要である。
