Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Biofilms were collected from root caries lesions, and the function of biofilm bacteria associated with root caries was investigated. The results suggested that microbiota associated with root caries lesion may have a different function from the biofilm formed on the healthy exposed root surface. On the other hand, as a result of investigating the effects of zinc-glass-containing glass ionomer cement on biofilms, it was shown that the number of viable bacteria and the thickness of the biofilm of Actinomyces naeslundii decreased compared to the control group, and that gene expression changed.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
