Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Angiogenin (ANG), an angiogenic factor, is produced by various cancer cells and promotes angiogenesis via the receptor Plexin B2 on the surface of vascular endothelial cells. We recently confirmed that ANG is highly expressed in bone invasion areas of oral cancer and that ANG promotes osteoclast formation. The question that arises from these findings is whether ANG produced by oral cancer cells in the bone microenvironment promotes osteoclast formation and jaw bone destruction. We aim to elucidate this using an oral cancer bone invasion animal model.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
