Outline of Final Research Achievements |
By evaluating the driving ability of the elderly from the perspectives of sensorimotor cognition and emotion, we were able to obtain new knowledge about the driving characteristics and evaluation methods in the elderly drivers. Specifically, 1) the more attention is paid to device operation, safety management, expansion of the peri-personal space, and prediction while driving, their driving performance was high, 2) mental load causes negative emotions, and 3) during revers parking, a characteristic visual search implying an expansion of peri-personal space appeared, and the gaze act was repeated at a short period of 20 ms. In the future, it is suggested that a program to improve visual search behavior is necessary to maintain and improve the driving ability of the elderly drivers.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
