Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated change in expression levels of renin-angiotensin system genes and angiotensin II receptor genes of rat geniculate ganglia in various situations. Their expression levels changed during development. Some developmental changes were common with trigeminal ganglia and others unique to geniculate ganglia. Their expression levels were also upregulated or downregulated with water deprivation, sodium-restriction, protein-restriction and diabetes. These results suggest that in the geniculate ganglion the renin-angiotensin system modulates taste information conveyed to the central gustatory system.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
