| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During the last year of our project we have developed a new version of our chatbot for querying sections related to export control. We have made the interface more user-friendly by adding interactive buttons to make the process of disambiguation faster for a user.
We also extended the question-answer dataset based on CITEC FAQ to include simpler questions often asked to the principal investigator who is an export control expert. The process of the creation and the expended dataset has been described in a conference paper titled "Expanding Export Control-related Data for Expert System" and presented to the international audience.
As the possible questions from users can contain terminology which is absent from legal documents, official glossary and the FAQ, the next task we have concentrated on was the research on quality of terms automatically matched from the Wikipedia pages. We have created several algorithms for finding related entries and found that only few terms were matched correctly which showed that direct use of Wikipedia is limited. We have described the algorithms and the results of our experiments in paper titled "Utilizing Wikipedia for Retrieving Synonyms of Trade Security-related Technical Terms", which has been accepted and is planned to be presented on April 23, 2023.
For the last step we have prepared a new instance of the chatbot to be tested by users outside of the project team. We also added a special button to disambiguation choices which will serve feedback for machine learning module after opening the system to the public.
