Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focused on ballet in both national theatres, such as opera houses, and popular theatres, such as music halls and variety theatres, in Western Europe at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. It examined the movement of people between these theatres, the dissemination of works and the reality and reception of adapted performances between different theatres while considering the social and cultural backgrounds of various regions during the same period. Through the investigation and analysis of historical materials, I highlighted the characteristics of ballet in popular theatres, which developed as a form of entertainment for the masses. Additionally, I uncovered a particular aspect of the ballet trends of the time, showing that these ballets dynamically interacted with and were mutually influenced by the ballets of Western Europe's national theatres and the Russian Imperial Theatres.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
