Outline of Final Research Achievements |
After the "Ryukyu Disposition," modern Okinawa/Ryukyu experienced three changes in rulership, during which both the old and new calendars coexisted for about a century, as revealed through analysis of various sources such as almanacs, calendars, newspapers, and magazines. The transition to a new time system in Okinawa involved superficially authoritarian changes driven by scientific rationality and ruling authority. However, it became evident that the shift actually progressed alongside gradual changes in people's lives, reflecting socio-economic transformations rather than strictly enforced measures.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
