Outline of Annual Research Achievements

In fiscal year 2022 I traveled to Romania (Aug.-Sept.) to do archival research about Japan's image& Japanese literature during the communist period. Building on my findings, I expanded the scope of my research to include a triangulation with China. I organized the symposium "Japan: Literary and Cultural Representations in Communist Europe" (Oct.) to discuss similarities and differences among Eastern European countries and set the foundations of a broader future project. Throughout the year, I presented the results of my research at both academic& public events.
