Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study explores the emergence of Shuji Terayama's gender consciousness in works written for women. Placing the For Ladies series published by Shinshokan in the cultural context of the genealogy of girls' magazines and the rise of girls' manga in the 1960s-1980s, this study examines the representations of girls in the works and the aspects and strategies of interaction with the readers. In addition to the direct influence of girls' submissions on Terayama's works, the multifaceted existence of the girl is also captured and represented as a dramatic and theatrical body in Terayama's and Karajuro's works. Through these studies, a new perspective on the relationship between girls' culture and underground theater was gained.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では性差に意識的ではないとされたアングラ演劇において、寺山修司の初期演劇作品にみられるジェンダーへの批評意識を、女性向けに書かれた作品を調査・検討し、アングラ演劇における通念を精査するものである。寺山研究で今まであまり論じられていないFor Ladiesシリーズを取り上げ、寺山の少女観を抽出したのみならず、少女向け書籍の系譜にそれらを位置づけ、少女雑誌や読者投稿研究と接続することができた。また唐十郎作品の少女表象を検討し、寺山のみならずアングラ演劇において、サンリオや宝塚や少女漫画などの少女文化が創作に影響を与えていたことを確認し、アングラ演劇と少女文化を繋ぐ新たな視座を獲得できた。
