Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I presented my findings about the interaction between morphology and accent in Korean at an international conference on Korean linguistics, and I published a paper about the interaction between morphology and accent in Japanese. I also worked on an article about morphology and accent in two Japanese and two Korean dialects. Apart from this, I presented an analysis of morphological relations in the stratified lexicons of Japanese and Korean at an international symposium on morphology. Meanwhile, I worked on an approach to phonology-morphology interaction in which stratum-specific effects emerge from the architecture of the lexicon.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I was able to develop my analysis of morphological relations across lexical strata in Japanese and Korean and work on the interaction of morphology with accent in dialects of the two languages. Both topics will be combined in the third year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the third year, I will focus on accent patterns across different lexical strata in dialects of the two languages. Apart from this, I am planning to present more of my findings at conferences and write and submit several articles.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Although the research has proceeded relatively smoothly, I will keep collecting materials related to the topic. Moreover, I will need to cover travel expenses for research meetings, conferences, and consultation sessions with fellow linguists.
